The Thrifty Homeschool Table
My son was in pre-school during March of 2020… Covid happened. School ended abruptly, and we were unsure how the following years would go. As most parents were during this time, we too, were nervous to send him back to public school the following school year. He was young in pre-school, so we did loosely a “pre-school” at home 2020-2021. 2021-2022 school year, we wanted to try public school again and immediately regretted putting him in and took him right out. However, this year we did a program called K12 for Kindergarten. He thrived and loved it! We did first grade too through this program as well (essentially an at home public school, online) and my second son also did Kindergarten on K12. Last year, both kids went to public school the first 7 months and we had so many issues (I’ll share details later) and started our official homeschool journey.
This school year is my first official year of homeschooling without K12, without any assistance of a teacher from a public school. I love it and I love having the freedom with my children. The ability to customize their learning to them! It is a learning curve, especially since I went to public school. Long hours researching curriculums and trying to “un-school” to know that we can do it however we need to. As long as it is done, and the kiddos are happy and learning. That is all that matters.
I know, you probably are here mostly for the homeschooling aspect. If you are like me, you are a parent, and tips and tricks can be learned in many more parts of your life. Such as budgeting, meal plans, and gardening. If those interest you as well, I’ll be sharing more on those topics! Oh, also I am trying to learn how to make sourdough bread. Let’s see how that goes, maybe I can share what I learn about that, too.
I look forward to sharing all the details, tips, tricks and more. I hope you are too!
